Jesus calls His followers to be salt and light to the world (Matthew 5:13-16). We seek to live as His faithful servants and be agents of His transforming presence in our society and the world. Evangelicals engage in all areas of life as part of our witness. We want to be obedient to God in the pursuit of justice and care for the vulnerable.

One of the ways we do this is to learn about key issues facing our culture, and think through how biblical principles apply in these areas. A wise way to start is to focus on only one topic at a time, to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Think about what you can do on that single topic and pray for guidance.

EFC resources can help you. Select a topic in the search below, or browse the full list of topics. To learn more about how to engage with your government representative, you can also see our Engagement Kit.

Latest Prayer Requests: August 18, 2026

This Week’s Prayer Prompts

This week's prayer is about palliative care.

Pray for people in your church and neighbourhood who have been diagnosed with a life-changing illness or disease. Pray for the caregivers, churches and organizations that support them. Pray for hope, strength and courage. Pray for their tangible physical, social and spiritual needs to be met. Pray for high-quality palliative care to be available across the country, for all Canadians.

Pray for the Bruyère Hospital, which offers a special palliative care unit and also partners with Ontario Health at Home to support family physicians and primary health care teams that care for palliative patients in the community. Bruyere also hosts the Champlain Hospice Palliative Care Program, which provides support and education to health care providers and organizations to improve access to high-quality hospice palliative care in the Champlain region of Eastern Ontario.
