Support Trevor Pfahl - Welcome Church

Trevor grew up on a farm near Drumheller, AB, and had his first international experience during college, interning at a church and orphanage in the Philippines for eight months. After earning a BRE in Religion and Cross-Cultural Communication in 1998, he taught English in Surabaya, Indonesia, to professionals in an adult English program and International Business students in two universities. There he met his wife, and they returned to Canada in January 2004 (wrong time to move from a tropical country to Winnipeg (Winterpeg).
 
Since then, Trevor has taught English at several universities and colleges in Winnipeg and worked in settlement services, supporting newcomers to Canada. After completing an MA in TTESOL in 2017, he began training ESL teachers through Providence University College and the University of Winnipeg. He currently serves as president of TESL Manitoba, teaches part-time, and works part-time with Welcome Church.
 
As community liaison at Welcome Church, Trevor connects religious groups and individuals regionally and nationally with resources, training, and networking between government, non-profits and religious organizations to support refugees, international students, and newcomers. He loves leading workshops that help Canadians and newcomers understand how to buy/rent a house, increase income & decrease expenses, gain employable skills, entrepreneurship, English, computer/tech skills, cultural integration, parenting, and physical, mental, emotional, financial & spiritual well-being.
